My Story
Hello, my name is Katie Smith! I am from Madison, Alabama and currently studying Elementary Education at Auburn University. I was introduced to education through teaching first grade Sunday school at my church, then enrolled in education classes at my high school. Through those high school classes, I was placed directly into local elementary schools to have hands-on experience teaching lessons and assisting teachers. I have been working with children in an academic setting for six years, including most recently a tutoring service through the Auburn Boys and Girls Club. I have experience working with grades first through sixth, including special education.
I have no strong preference as to which grade I would wish to teach, although I have more experience teaching older grades. I especially enjoy teaching history, but am confident in my abilities to teach the other subjects as well. I would love a job in either the Auburn City or Madison City schools.
